Foil roofs with K2 Dome 6: Safe, flexible and load-optimized

Plastic roofs made of PVC, EPDM or TPO provide reliable waterproofing and effectively protect buildings from weather influences. Thanks to their flexibility, they are also suitable for complex or curved roof surfaces. When installing a photovoltaic system on a foil roof, mounting systems without penetrating the roof covering are usually used. The emphasis is on correct ballast loading. However, if mechanical anchoring is required, K2 Systems offers suitable and proven anchoring solutions through cooperation with Sika and other partners.

Foil roofs with K2 Dome 6: Safe, flexible and load-optimized

Minimum ballast – maximum flexibility
The K2 Dome 6 flat roof systems are aerodynamically optimized and require only a small amount of ballast, making them ideal for use on foil roofs. Other load reduction options can be easily and effectively taken into account in the K2 Base planning tool, for example:

using a D-Dome instead of an S-Dome,
using a Dome 6 Classic LS with clamping on the long side of the module,
combining load bearing with mechanical anchoring up to full mechanical fastening.
Intelligent load distribution with LoadSolver
In the K2 Base tool, the maximum permissible pressure on the thermal insulation can be defined. If this limit is exceeded, the system automatically adds additional Mat S protection mats, ensuring a more even load distribution. Another option is the K2 LoadSolver, which, thanks to its extended contact area, ensures particularly efficient load transfer to the insulation.

This new solution combines the 200 mm long Mat S with an integrated adapter. This is attached transversely under the K2 BasicRail support rail using the Twist-&-Lock principle. The structural design is carried out by the K2 Systems technical team optimized for the project. The corresponding form is directly linked to the K2 Base and can be conveniently filled in online.

Flexible mechanical anchoring and cooperation with Sika
If the roof load capacity is low or if the roof pitch is from 3°, mechanical fastening is required. Anchoring elements from various manufacturers such as Sika, Solmont or CW Lundberg are available in the K2 base, which can be directly integrated into the design. The corresponding anchor resistance is automatically taken into account in the planning tool. The anchors are connected to the mounting system via the Dome FixPro component.

Cost-effective alternative: RidgeConnector
If the use of roof anchors is not possible or desirable, the K2 Dome 6 RidgeConnector offers a cost-effective alternative. The modular blocks are connected across the roof ridge, reducing material costs and assembly steps – without compromising on safety.

Conclusion
Thanks to the new solutions, flat roof projects can be implemented:

safely,

efficiently and

flexibly.
For demanding roof projects where optimization of the gravel load is required, installers and planners have practical and cost-effective solutions at their disposal.
