Green for Businesses Project (Projekt Zelená podnikom)
The Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) will implement a new pilot project, the Green for Businesses Project, in the years 2024–2029.
Through the national Green for Businesses Project, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can obtain contributions in the form of vouchers for the preparation of energy audits and the installation of Renewable Energy Source (RES) facilities, while taking into account sustainability principles and supporting the decentralization of energy production.
A total of €66.56 million has been allocated for the vouchers. Of this amount, over €22.15 million is designated for the Bratislava Region and €44.41 million for the other regions. The Green for Businesses Project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Slovakia Programme 2021–2027.
The Energy Audit is the Foundation
A condition for submitting an application for a voucher is that the enterprise must have an energy audit prepared. Thanks to the audit, the company will have proposals for suitable energy efficiency measures and it will also specify which RES facilities are appropriate for the particular type of operation. The basis for determining the installed capacity of the facility will be the expected energy consumption that the enterprise would achieve after implementing the saving measures proposed in the audit. The primary goal of the national project is to support the self-consumption of energy produced from renewable sources.
Supported Technologies
The project will support the installation of photovoltaic panels, solar collectors, heat pumps, and wind turbines—equipment that does not harm the European Union's environmental objectives and simultaneously meets the technical and environmental requirements of the "Do No Significant Harm" (DNSH) principle.
Level of Support
The maximum amount of the contribution for one enterprise is €50,000. The vouchers will be able to cover 40% of the total eligible expenditure (provided the energy audit confirms that the enterprise consumes at least 50% of the energy produced), with a potential 5% bonus for facilities where a minimum of 80% of the produced heat, cold, and electricity is used directly by the enterprise. Energy storage will also be supported. To ensure the economy of expenditure, a maximum price per unit of installed capacity will be set.
