Ranking of the TOP 30 photovoltaic panels with the highest efficiency
Back-contact photovoltaic (BC) panel technology is proving its leadership in the efficiency of converting sunlight into electricity. According to a study by TaiyangNews, the most efficient panels currently commercially available on the market include AIKO, LONGi and Maxeon BC panels.
BC Panels Dominance
Efficiency remains the main criterion by which the quality of photovoltaic panels is evaluated from the investor's perspective. In the efficiency ranking at the panel level, BC panels currently occupy the leading position (with a maximum efficiency of 24.4%). This is followed by HJT panel technology (with a maximum efficiency of 23.5%). The third most efficient technology is TOPCon panels (with a maximum efficiency of approximately 23%).
The previously dominant PERC panel technology (approximately 21.7% efficiency) has reached the very bottom of the TOP panel ranking in terms of efficiency. The overview of the development of panel efficiency for the period from 2023 to the first half of 2025 below confirms the fact that BC panel technology is among the absolute leaders in efficiency.
Ranking of the TOP 30 most efficient photovoltaic panels
According to a study by TaiyangNews, the panels with the highest efficiency currently available on the market are AIKO BC panels (24.4% efficiency). In second place are LONGi BC/HPBC panels (24.2% efficiency). In third place in the ranking of the most efficient technologies is Maxeon BC panels (24.1% efficiency).
