SIEA: The Green for Households project will continue in the fall, will be strengthened by 20 million euros and will bring simpler rules
The Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEAú) is preparing a fundamental change to the Green for Households project, associated with an increase in the budget by another 20 million euros. The amount of 7.4 million euros remaining from unused vouchers will be increased by another 20 million euros after the approval of the revision of the Slovakia Program.
Additional possibilities for increasing resources
In total, more than 28 million euros should be available to support the use of renewable energy sources in households. At the same time, SIEA will look for additional possibilities for increasing resources.
"The Green for Households project has operated more or less without any changes to the application mechanism since 2015. We therefore want to use the addition of new funds for system adjustments that will streamline administration and simplify the procedure for households. The new system will reduce the error rate and significantly speed up reimbursement," said SIEA Director General Michal Fiala.
At the same time, the amount of the contribution for individual facilities will also be reassessed. SIEA will fulfill the assignment from the Slovakia Program. The aim of the project will continue to be to support the use of renewable energy sources, but it is also necessary to take into account their contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. The support will therefore focus mainly on decarbonization in the area of household heating.
In the revised project, applicants can expect a reduction in the maximum contribution for electricity generation equipment and the continuation of the provision of contributions for heat generation equipment.
Installation contributions should be released in Q3 2026
The new general conditions of the Green for Households and Green Solidarity projects will be published by SIEA on the Green for Households project website in Q2 2026. Contributions for the installation of equipment should be released in Q3 2026.
Households will thus have sufficient time to familiarize themselves with the improved rules that will make it easier for them to use the assistance. Registration of new applications remains open, and SIEA will inform interested parties about changes in the conditions.
Continued interest in renewable energy sources
The project results to date confirm the continued interest in renewable energy sources. In less than two years, SIEA has supported the installation of 33,300 devices with an amount exceeding EUR 95 million.
The activation of applications and the issuance of vouchers for low-income households continues without interruption. Under the Green Solidarity project, which offers preferential support of up to 90% of eligible costs, households have already benefited from contributions worth 5.6 million euros for more than 1,100 installations.
